I've like to see this be extended to include more information about memory. Specifically Virtual memory usage:

I'd like to see performance graphs for the following /proc/meminfo metrics. Here is an example of one of our systems that I need to tune and reasons why:

-bash-3.2$ grep -i -e MemTotal -e Active -e Low -e Commit -e Huge /proc/meminfo

MemTotal: 8388784 kB ## 8GB of real memory available
Active: 3399264 kB ## 3GB being requested by processes
Inactive: 1891552 kB ## 1.8GB available to be swapped out if the need occurs.
LowTotal: 745640 kB ## 728MB of Low Memory available.
LowFree: 18468 kB ## only 18MB of Low Memory is "Free"!!!
CommitLimit: 12578896 kB ## ('vm.overcommit_ratio, defaults to 50' * Physical RAM) + Swap
Committed_AS: 6231212 kB ## 6GB of memory "committed" by the vmm, but probably not used

## yet. So processes have requested that the memory be

## "allocated" to them for future use.

And then also include the shared memory pages so that we can put two and two together in future if need be to determine if there are potential issues with our 32-bit system needing to be migrated to 64-bit:

You might want to check out the Linux Monitor Addon ZenPack and supply patches to that.

Not sure if this is the right place to report this but when I try to install this ZenPack I keep getting a "This pack was just installed, or is missing or broken. Please restart Zope." error message even after restarting both zopectl and zenoss in numerous occasions. I've had to remove it using the instructions posted here and am not able to use it.

After upgrading to 3.1 I was able to install this ZenPack without any issues

I’m a zenoss newbie and have just recently started evaluating core 3.1.0. I have Linux Monitor installed (as well as Linux Monitor Addon) and have a question regarding OSprocess objects that are detected on servers in the /Server/SSH/Linux class, which is added by this Zenpack.

I’ve found that OSprocess objects are detected correctly when a server is modeled, but operational status is not detected – i.e. a monitored process can fail and the OSprocess object will still indicate green/no events.

Also, the graphs for the OSprocesses are all empty, with the stats indicating “nan”. This much I can understand, as the default OSprocess monitor template only has SNMP data sources defined.

So my questions are (all questions assue that only SSH-based monitoring is being used):

1) Should a server in the /Server/SSH/Linux class be able to monitor server processes?

2) Is there a separate zenpack that contains an OSprocess monitoring template for SSH-monitored OSprocess objects with data sources and graphs?

I don't think it does. There was some recent posts on the forums on this. You may want to post to Zenoss-Users or Zenoss-Zenpacks forums for more replies.
