This Pack has been instramental to my deployment of Zen and it works epically. Any chance we could get it tweaked for Zen3?

All,

I found that editing the zCommand timeout fixed this issue but if your using remote collectors you will need to change this timeout on the collectors before you set them up as slaves to the master.

Has anyone reworked this to be functional in Zen 3.0? I see a note above about requiring phy3.0 version of file but I do not see that file attached.

I installed this pack in 2.5.2. I'm able to model my device and it picks up the SLA objects perfectly fine. I'm also able to successfully run the Collect_SLA.py script against the device and have it return values. When I run zencommand against the device it does no collection at all for the SLA objects. Am I missing something here?

Ok, it was a mistake made by the author of the pack. In the templates, the path to the script is referenced with ${here/ZenPackManager/packs/ZenPacks.zenoss.ipSLA/path}. That has to match the actual name of the ZenPack. The proper way to reference the path is: ${here/ZenPackManager/packs/ZenPacks.ipSLA.SLADevice/path}

After I adjusted it to that zencommand ran the script fine and data was gathered. Nice work on the pack Shane, but you should release a 2.0.2 where that is corrected. I've authored several ZenPacks and this threw me for a bit of a loop since that was the last place that I checked. I assumed that something like that would be correct, but alas it was not. Other than that small issue, nice work on the pack, it works well.

I just got the pack working with zenperfsnmp instead of the scripts (which is a HUGE resource saver). I'm doing more major updates to the pack tomorrow and I'll be contacting Shane to make sure that he doesn't mind me releasing updates for the pack. I'll also be converting it to work with Zenoss 3.0 as well (if Shane doesn't mind).

I've developed a verion 3 of this ZenPack, however, it's only been released to private customers at this point and does need some tuning. Using scripts was done in version 2 specifically because the customer for which it was origonally developed was at 'capacity' for zenperfsnmp polling at 1 minute intervals. Basically the idea was to move the work to another daemon because zenperfsnmp would flake out. The newest version of the zenpack implements everything as a python test as a python datasource with it's own daemon.

I do, I just haven't released it yet. I will soon. The newest release will

supports version 3 and includes the zenSLAdaemon and web UI based SLA

administration. Foreseeably the zenpack will be released once tuned and

tested with the next Zenoss release.

Hi Shane, thanks for your work on this Zenpack, it's going to prove very helpful to my Ops department.

I've just downloaded and installed v3.0 from your website and installed it in my Zenoss 3.1.0 environment. Placing a router in /Devices/Network/IPSLA worked first time, with the various IPSLAs detected and graphed correctly.

Now that it's working, my next step is to set up IPSLA monitoring on routers under /Devices/Network/Router/Cisco, (I want these routers to stay in this device group for various reasons). I have set the zPythonClass of this device group to ZenPacks.ShaneScott.ipSLA.SLADevice and I've also added SLADevice to the device group's Modeler Plugins.

This appears to work correctly - after a remodel I see my SLAS listed under Components. However there seems to be some kind of rendering bug when I try to look at the graphs for these. I click on an SLA and I see the graph flash up quickly before disappearing.

I've tried Chrome and Firefox and the result is the same. I hypothesise that it might be something to do with the fact that the IPSLA graphs are so wide by default?

Any ideas?

That's correct. It's fixed in the upcoming new version. To fix it for now change the graph width to 500 in all the templates.

Zenoss: 3.2.0

I added this Zenpack and it appears to work correctly for devices placed within the /Network/IPSLA device group but I want to add IPSLA to to other device groups. I set the zPythonClass of /Devices/Network/Router/Cisco to ZenPacks.ShaneScott.ipSLA.SLADevice and added SLADevice to that group's modeler but the View SLA menu never appears for the devices in this group nor does the SLAs show up under the Components menu.

I also changed the graph widths in objects.xml from 890 to 500 but the graph size did not change.

Any ideas on how to fix these problems?

I got your ipSLA 3.0 installed into zenoss 4.2 SP1 sucessfully. when zenoss restarted. I got zensla not running. Do you know the error cause?

v3.0 of the pack isn't going to work in 4.2. There is a rewrite of the daemon in the pack current being done for 4.2 but it has not yet been released.

rmatte is correct, this pack wont work in 4.2 It works in 4.0, but in later versions hub service and zenperfsnmp structure changed. An updated copy will be release soon.
