im getting this error on new installation of 2.5.2

You have to create this class manually before installing the ZenPack:

/Devices/Network/Cisco/ASA

triller, I see no reason why this pack wouldn't work with 3.x. Just rename the egg from ZenPacks.community.CiscoASAVPN-1.1-py2.4.egg to ZenPacks.community.CiscoASAVPN-1.1.egg or ZenPacks.community.CiscoASAVPN-1.1-py2.6.egg and it'll install and function fine. It's just a performance template, there's nothing fancy in this pack to stop it from working.

Just use the Adaptive Security Appliance ZenPack instead. It provides the same info as this pack and more. Make sure you download version 1.0 of it. They made a version 2.x.x of the pack which they claim is Zenoss 3.x compatible, but it doesn't install in Zenoss 4 while v1.0 of the pack does. There is no difference between the two versions in terms of monitoring. Download v1.0, rename the py2.4 to py2.7 and install.

Also, if you carefully read the error that you're getting with installing this pack you'll see: 2012-11-15 10:44:45,555 WARNING zen.AddToPack: Unable to find context path /zport/dmd/Devices/Network/Cisco/ASA/rrdTemplates (line 4 ?) for ASAVPN

It is complaining that the device class /Network/Cisco/ASA doesn't exit, that's where it's trying to install the template to. I still recommend using the Adaptive Security Appliance pack over this one though.
