Is there a way to change the default ip it connects to? We have memcache set to use 127.0.0.3 on all of our servers, and I didn't see a way to change that in this file.

I've got this installed now, and the RRDs "seem" to be populating, but I don't get a graph on the perf screen when I try to view it. The graph I've added has all the datapoints which are available specified, but that shouldn't be a problem should it?

Edit: I don't think the RRDs are actually being populated. The file I was looking at is memCached_memCached.rrd, but that's not one of the RRDs for the host's cached memory information.

Edit2: After having leaved it to today, it just started working. So about 20 hours after I added the stuff initially. Remodelling didn't seem to force it on the hosts, so irunno what changed. Oh well, working now.

The main idea is to bind the datasource to a modeled device, rather than free pointing to any address. The reason behind this is to take advantage of other important metrics provided by the device templates (such as network IO, free memory, CPU load, etc) that could be very useful to troubleshooting once your memcached instances gets into trouble. In your case then I would encourage you to model 127.0.0.3 and bind the memcached template to it.

If after reading this you still think it is best to freely point to the ip address, you will need to edit the template at $ZENHOME/ZenPacks/ZenPacks.community.Memcached-1.0-py2.4.egg/ZenPacks/community/Memcached/skins/ZenPacks.community.Memcached/editMemcachedDataSource.pt and replace the type=hidden attribute of the hostname input field for type=text.Do not forget restarting zopectl to see the changes...

total_items 32u Total number of items stored by this server ever since it started

total_connections 32u Total number of connections opened since the server started running

connection_structures 32u Number of connection structures allocated by the server

cmd_get 64u Cumulative number of retrieval requests

cmd_set 64u Cumulative number of storage requests

get_hits 64u Number of keys that have been requested and found present

get_misses 64u Number of items that have been requested and not found

evictions 64u Number of valid items removed from cache to free memory for new items

The datasource also includes:

I just installed this ont he new release, 3.0 and cannot get the configure screen to come up. It defaults to TEST. Non of the configuration fields are available. Is there a fix planed for this ZenPack?

Version 3.0 might require a different tempate to edit the datasource. I will update the zenpack to make it 3.0 ready soon.

I install ZenPacks.community.Memcached-1.1-py2.4.egg.zip to the Zenoss 2.5.2 server successfull but it can't render graphs because show error '-2,Name or service not know'.I think , I set a remote server correct, it run a memcached (11211 port listen status) and firewall allow.Please help me to solve this problem

Is there a reason this ZenPack is listed as incompatible with version 3?

On http://community.zenoss.org/community/zenpacks, it has a No in the 'Zenoss 3.0 Compatible?' column.

I downloaded ZenPacks.community.Memcached-1.1-py2.6.egg.zip and installed on my test instance and it seems like its working. Was curious if its compatible and just marked as such, or is there some actual issue with it?

What are the thoughts around adding the memcached OSProcess to this pack (or another). Given the name of the pack is Memcached Data Source, I could understand the desire to keep it at just a data source. That said, it seems silly to add a new pack just for the OSProcess (yes I know I can just add it myself to my installation).

Given we already have a seperate template for Memcached Templates, it might be nice to figure out a strategy in which one could install 1-2 packs, and not have to manually setup anything else.

I would rather add it to this one. No point in having 3 zenpacks just to monitor memcached. It is already unfortunate that a zenpack was created by just following the instructions above to create a template.

Although I still defend the idea of encouraging people to create templates customized to their needs, perhaps we should just add a minimal template also, an eradicate the annoyance of having to install two zenpacks for the lazy.

3 cheers for this idea from me . I agree folks might want to customize their own templates, but I also think just a many people would be happy with the default graphs provided via the other pack. I would be in favor of sucking in the templates provided by the other pack into this one, adding the process, and having one pack that gets all the basics covered.

I'm having trouble with this in 3.0.3 and 3.1. Is it possible that skins/ZenPacks.community.Memcached/editMemcachedDataSource.pt or something else still needs updated to be 3.0 compatible?

Like Horsemann above, when I click "edit data source" I only get an option to test (which fails), I can't edit the port. I am able to collect data for nodes running memcache on port 11211.

Seems it's impossible to edit datapoints but if you install the "Memcached Performance Template" you'll obtain rrd graphs....if I'm not wrong, now I don't use Repcached on our servers but this Zenpack worked for me with Zenoss 2.5 and 3.0.1 until I uninstalled it.

This should be marked not compat with 3.x as it does not allow you set paramaters as shown above by Horsemann

I've attempted to use ZenPacks.community.Memcached-1.1-py2.7.egg, built from the source on github, on Centos 6.3 / Zenoss 4.2 without sucess. It looks like the relationship for ZenPacks.community.Memcached.datasources.MemcachedDataSource.MemcachedDataSource breaks

This is the only log I find.

INFO zen.Relations: Ignoring unresolvable object '<persistent broken ZenPacks.community.Memcached.datasources.MemcachedDataSource.MemcachedDataSource instance '\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x04c\r'>'

After removing it I downloaded and attempted to download the 1.2-py2.6.egg. but It did not find its files on pypi

I was able to successfully install this zenpack on 4.2.4. I had to change file name to ZenPacks.community.Memcached-1.2-py2.7.egg

Zenpacks will not install on Core 4 unless the python version in the name of the file is 2.7
