ZenPacks : Cisco Environmental Monitor : Comments

I have importad the zenpack into my zenoss v3.0.3 successfully but the temperature graphs are not getting populated. I can test the OID query from the template settings interface without a problem. Any help with getting the data graphed is much appreciated.

Did a little more research and testing, updated the template with OID bellow and graph is being generated correctly now.

Yes, I have the template bound to about 150 device. Had to change the OID though for the template to start generating graphs.

1. never bind components templates to device (unbind CiscoTemperatureSensor Template from all devices).

2. put your Cisco device in /Network/Router/Cisco device class and remodel it. After modeling you can find Temperature sensors and Fans under 'Hardware' tab.

I might have not expressed myself correctly when I referred to binding to 150 devices. I do not have the template bond by device but by the class /Network/Router/Cisco and /Network/Router/Switch. Within these two classes there are 150+ devices.

I could not find the tab Fans or Hardware tab that you are referring to.

All n' all the temperature readings are working correctly. Thanks for the replies and the template. Very good work.

for the power supplies, I have 4 on some routrs where two of them are Aux not present, so this zenpack has event "threshold of powerSupply status exceeded: current value..."

Do you know how to un-manage them? Power Supplies Action icon with the monitoring is grayout. I am on zenoss 3.0.3

Another issue... high end routers have more temperature sensors, where the lower end router i.e. 2600 or 2800 has only one chassis temperature senor, then the snmp value returns unknown. However, if you change oid to "x.x....1" ending one, then other routers don't work... -kevin

This issue already fixed in Git repository.

I' not realy understend why you trying to change Template. The community.snmp.CiscoTemperatureSensorMap collector plugin will find and register all temperature sensors as device components. Zenoss will automatically bind CiscoTemperatureSensor template to it. So simply put your router in /Network/Router/Cisco Device Class and remodel it. After remodeling you will see all Temperature Sensors under Device Components.

Thanks for your notes.

I haven't get a chance to figure it out how "Git Repository" work yet. I have installed a new zenoss 3.1.0 with this zenpack. The problem remains.

For 2nd item, I added those environment templates to collector plugins under /Network/ipSLA, somehow, the temp senor is not working when there is only 1 temp senor in the device (i.e. Cisco 2800s). There is no problem if our devices are under /Network/Router/Cisco class.

do you know how to get Cisco ASR router work for this zenpack? Apparently, the enviroment only shows "Expansion Cards", not the rest of components. I am sure there are OIDs for different chassis temp values for ASR series. Many thanks.

When I try and get the temperature of our Cisco 2801's this happens:

snmpwalk -cpublic -v2c server 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.13.1.3.1.3

SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9.9.13.1.3.1.3 = No Such Instance currently exists at this OID

Any ideas? Do I have the wrong OID? I am using the one that came in the zenpack.

Question: I have this ZenPack installed. Seems to work fine. I do have serveral Cisco switches which do not have the chassis or power supply OID exposed as indicated by this error:

Error reading value for "chassis" on <company switch name hidden> (oid .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.13.1.3.1.3.1 is bad)

How would I prevent this switch device from using

community.snmp.CiscoPowerSupplyMap
community.snmp.CiscoTemperatureSensorMap
community.snmp.CiscoExpansionCardMap

these plugins? I have them bound at the /Network/Router/Cisco device class.

Hi Egor, this ZenPack was working great for me on 3.2.1 but now with 4.2 I'm running into a few errors.

simple workaround is to replace 'if evt.firstTime == evt.lastTime:' with 'if device.hw.temperaturesensors._getOb(evt.component).state != state:' string in all transforms.

thanks for your Zenpack, I have a small remark about PowerSupply monitoring : why do you mark "notPresent" as severity "Error" ? We have lots of routers with only one PSU and this is a valid situation.

As I don't see a solution to fix this with the threshold (1 and 5 ok, others not), I patched the event transformation :

I have this Zenpack installed on version 4.2.3. It is working for most of my switches, however I have a few that are giving the same transform errors as OneLoveAmaru was getting. When I look into the event classes and find the status/CiscoFAN I do not see any mappings there to edit. Am I looking in the right spot? I am fairly new to Zenoss so I could be looking in the wrong spot.

I didn't try 4.x yet, but on my 3.2.1 release, I have the transformation at /zport/dmd/Events/Status/CiscoFan/editEventClassTransform

Go to Events / Event Classes / Status / CiscoFan, then use the gear at bottom left to select "Transform". You should then be able to see the transform and edit it.

Thanks zenorr that was it, however that solution doesn't work for me when I change it the Transform turns red. I don't get Transform errors all the time, just sometimes. Here is what my transform looks like.

as I don't have a Zenoss 4 at hand, no way to test your transform. You may want to log stuff out and try to pinout what produce the problem. Use log.debug() and log.info() in your transform, the output goes to

$ZENHOME/log/zenhub.log (in Zenoss 3 at least).

Anyway a remark : the 1st command of your transform casts to a float, but then you have integers in the dict on the 2nd line.
