I am getting an error Bad OID cpu_load under PFsense 1.2.3 Any hits on fixing this.

sometimes cpu oid change (the last number).

make this command

snmpwalk -v 1 -c public yourdeviceip 1.3.6.1.2.1.25.3.3.1.2

then look the result, for example for me is

HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrProcessorLoad.5 = INTEGER: 100

so in this case oid wil be 1.3.6.1.2.1.25.3.3.1.2.5

if you've for example HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrProcessorLoad.7 you've to change in template your oid to 1.3.6.1.2.1.25.3.3.1.2.7

I have ran the query agaist several of our PFsense boxes. We have over 20 in production and most have been saing .7 and I had two say .8. None of the ones I have checked have said .5. It not a problem now that I know how to fix.

Note. Most of our boxes are built with Dell Oplix Workstations. Were-as the 2 boxes I know for certain are not Dell Oplix are comming up with .8.

you've to adapt manually depending on the hardware

it's a multicpu or multicore ?

Pretty much yes. Since most boxes are .7 that is what my master template contains and those boxes that aren't I am making local copies of. I have added in 22 boxes so far. I have had a few .8 and .5 with one .4. None of my boxes are multicore or multicpu that I have added it in.

Do not assume that 2, 3, 4, 5 are CPU indexes. We have seen cases when one entry had ".1" and next one had ".16783". Scary... The best thing is too assume that (2, 3, 4, 5) are just unique identifiers. Accordingly, one should not attempt to work with OID instances as one would work with arrays.

so in next version of zenpack i've to make a script that take the array value and put it in a variable (so i've not the ending oid issue)

I am new to Zenoss and have multiple pfsense boxes which I would like to monitor. I found the correct cpu indext but I have no idea how to add the pfsense and update it to show the correct info. Can someone please give me step by step instructions as I have been battling with this for several weeks now. I just installed the jumpbox version 2 weeks ago and my trial is about to run out. Thanks in advance....

Please give details...ie which tab to click on etc......

go under /Devices /Network /Templates /Pfsense

under Data Sources click on cpu_load

change exsistent oid with this one 1.3.6.1.2.1.25.3.3.1.2.X

to know what value put in x make a

[root@node2 ~]# snmpwalk -v 2c -c public 192.168.80.254 hrProcessorLoad
HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrProcessorLoad.5 = INTEGER: 0

so in case hrProcessorLoad.5 x=5 so mib to paste will be 1.3.6.1.2.1.25.3.3.1.2.5

Hi Andrea,

I am new with Zenoss. Currently, I have added a couple of Linux servers usning snmp which works well. I am interested in your pfsense zenpack but, although I could get it installed, did not know how to use it to monitor pfsense (which we use and I have admin access to). Instructions would be much appreciated.

I'm having the same problem. My pfSense router is enabled for SNMP and Zenoss Core can query the device. I didn't see a pfSense template so I added one. I still don't have any performance monitors, and only see the same device information that I could see before. Is there something else that I am missing.

Cool. We have about 30 PFsense boxes on out network this adds a lot of useful info for us.
