I am unable to uninstall the 1.07 version from a 2.5 beta (2.4.70-414). I will also comment in ZenPacks forum and provide screenshot of failure message.

I like the MIB browser and utilities.

Currently I only see one MIB for viewing though (RDBMS-MIB).

I read the limitation above about displaying Zenoss MIB information. Is there a way that Zenoss can expand on the stored MIBs such that the utilities can display the MIBs installed within Zenoss by default in the /opt/zenoss/share/mibs directory?

I have this again with a 2.5.2 Zenoss. Not sure whether it is relevant but I installed the ZenPack before I had any MIBs loaded.

Has anyone found a way to deinstall this ZenPack when you get to this situation???

I am not the author of this ZenPack but you have been helpful and I thought I would throw some ideas out there.

Have you tried in a test environment to remove the ZenPack using zendmd rather than via the console?

Not tried zendmd - tried command line and GUI. Would you, by any chance, have some sample zendmd lines??

I was thinking to try from the Zendmd Web Interface.

Go to URL: http://your_zenoss_server.com:8080/zport/manage/ZenPackManager/

Check the box for ZenPacks.community.mib_utils and click the Delete button. It would be worth a try to see if you can remove the ZenPack external from the Zenoss web interface.

OK. This isn't hostname and it isn't specific to the MIB Browser ZenPack. If your $ZENHOME has a hyphen in it (I had /srv/zen-01-data/local/zenoss) then you get the:

ERROR: zenpack command failed. Reason: KeyError: 'zen'

message on install where the KeyError: 'zen' seems to be the bit before the hyphen. Once you have done this, you cannot deinstall the zenpack (NotImplementedError) - I've tried with command line, GUI and using the Zope Interface directly - you still can't get rid of it and you can't reinstall because that does an uninstall.

Most ZenPacks that I tried on the system with $ZENHOME having a hyphen, barfed. If you reinstall Zenoss, ensuring ZENHOME has no hyphen (and no dot - that is already a know problem with ticket 5838) then all the ZenPacks (that I've tried) install sweetly and can be removed. Good catch. There has to be a way to suppress the hyphen by using quotes or a backslash.

This installed fine (I am running 3.0, and I removed the py-24 in the file name), however, I can not seem to add any MIBs. If I try to download, or add from already downloaded MIBS, it causes an error in Zenoss, and I am asked to send an incident report. Is this not compatible with 3.0?

I have upgraded a Zenoss 2.5.2 to 3.0.1 with 1.0.8 of the MIB Browser ZenPack and don't see any indication / way to browse MIBs in my upgraded system. Worse, I cannot uninstall the ZenPack:

Did you actually manage to browser MIBs, simeon411? If so, how?

I also cannot add new MIBs via the GUI - the actions icon doesn't do anything - not sure whether this is to do with having the ZenPack installed or whether it is broken anyway??? I can load MIBs via command line and see them in the new GUI.

With many thanks to Kells for the hint....

If you have this ZenPack installed on 3.x system that has been upgraded from 2.5 system, the functionality doesn't work and you get the message shown above. Drill down to $ZENHOME/ZenPacks/ZenPacks.community.mib_utils-1.08.egg/ZenPacks/community/mib_utils and edit the __init__.py to change leaveObjects=False to leaveObjects=True, bounce zenhub and zopectl and try again to remove the ZenPack - it worked for me!

Does anyone else find this MIB Browser ZenPack THE most useful ZenPack around???

I use it endlessly to determine what MIB values to use in performance templates. Is it perfect? No. Is it EXCEEDINGLY useful? You bet!

Any other votes for trying to get this Mib Browser functionality incorporated into the base product???

Had version 1.08 installed on 2.5.2, and just upgraded to 3.02. The MIB upload/install function crashes when I tried to upload a zip file with four MIBs.

When you look at Error details, you get the most vague error message ever...

"Type:
Value: view"

That is pretty much all the web interface reports for this failure.

I think this error just means that the .pt files need to be listed out in the configure.zcml file.

Zenoss 3.1 on Open SuSE 11.4. I am trying to make the mib_utils ZenPack V1.08 work on Zenoss 3 - specifically the MIB Browser bit - the rest I can live with the standard Core functionality.

Something in the menu definitions in the zenpacks objects.xml file prevent the zenpack installing cleanly and uninstalling cleanly so I have hidden that file entirely.

In the ZenPack's skins directory, mibOrganizerOverview.pt is the file that sets up the javascript to drive the mib browser and adds the little browser icon to the table of MIBs. The problem is that this ZenPack mibOrganizerOverview.pt does NOT seem to override the standard mibOrganizerOverview.pt in $ZENHOME/Products/ZenModel/skins/zenmodel.

If I copy the ZenPack version to $ZENHOME/Products/ZenModel/skins/zenmodel then it all works.

How do I get the ZenPack version of the template file to override the Core one?

I have finally managed to create a version of this ZenPack that works with Zenoss 3. Rather than overwrite this mib_utils ZenPack, the new one is explicitly called ZenPacks.community.mib_browser. It's initial version is 2.0 and can be accessed at http://community.zenoss.org/docs/DOC-10321 .
