I was having trouble getting 1.13 to be loaded during a model on 2.5 so I changed:

maptype = "community.NetApp.NetAppFileSystemMap"

It would show up as a collector but would not load during a model.Some sort of bug or enforced naming convention?

PS Sometimes it would actually show twice in the Add fields list but once I added one or both it would be in the collector list. 2.5 bug?

I am also having issues installing this Zenpack on 2.5.1. I get the following error message

Output:

zenpack --install /tmp/ZenPacks.community.NetApp-1.13-py2.4.egg.zip

ERROR: zenpack command failed. Reason: OSError: [Errno 20] Not a directory: '/home/zenoss/Products/ZenPacks.community.NetApp-1.13-py2.4.egg/skins'

Done installing ZenPack.

Any help would be appreciated.

Make sure you unzip the ZenPack before trying to install it.

This is what I get trying to install from the unzipped egg file it says it installed it but it didn't.

Hmmm... it appears the ZenPack installation is timing out from the web UI. This usually only happens on slower systems (or really complex ZenPacks). Try copying the ZenPack to the Zenoss server and running "zenpack --install /tmp/ZenPacks.community.NetApp-1.13-py2.4.egg" as the zenoss user from the command line.

I managed to correct this by running:

perl -MCPAN -e 'install Net::SNMP'

This installed what I needed and now no more errors

Alerts no longer include the name of the volume (for me anyway) as the previous versions did. Anyone else seeing (or not seeing, as the case may be) this change?

Any of you happen to know which linux distro is being used for the virtual appliance of zenoss?

Because I'm missing the same perl modules but I am not able to install them because the distro is missing stuff like make, gcc, ncftp, etc,

The virtual appliance uses rPath Linux and doesn't have a very extensible userspace. I'd probably recommend looking at migrating to a full operating system on a VM and installing Zenoss on that (ie. CentOS or Ubuntu).

The zenpack has installed fine, but File System sizing information is not being displayed properly: Total Bytes populates fine, Used bytes, Free Bytes and % Util all say "unknown."

There is one event being shown for all my netapp devices. The error information is as follows:

Cmd: /usr/local/zenoss/zenoss/ZenPacks.community.NetApp-1.13-py2.4.egg/ZenPacks/community/NetApp/libexec/check_netapp-H xxx.xxx.47.254 -C public -l filesystem -f 149 - Code: 2 Msg:misuse of shell builtins

I am very new to Zenoss any help or guidance would be appreciated.

After having the same issue as above, I had a quick look into the script check_netapp and found that whenever a snmp return was invalid it would exit the script with an error. What I've done was edited the script and commented out the ones which were invalid. such as

dfHighSisSharedKBytes 1.3.6.1.4.1.789.1.5.4.1.24

dfLowSisSharedKBytes 1.3.6.1.4.1.789.1.5.4.1.25

dfHighSisSavedKBytes 1.3.6.1.4.1.789.1.5.4.1.26

dfLowSisSavedKBytes 1.3.6.1.4.1.789.1.5.4.1.27

dfPerCentSaved 1.3.6.1.4.1.789.1.5.4.1.28

Most likely my filer ONTap version was too old and didnt have those snmp.

I guess my next step would be to update the script to return 0 for any invalid results if any valid result exist.

Hi, here is a feedback on this Zenpack on Zenoss 3.0.3

i have installed this zenpack (the 2.X version: ZenPacks.community.NetApp-1.13-py2.4.egg.zip) on my Zenoss 3.0.3 (by removing the -py2.4 from file name), it installed OK and i got some results froma a test NetApp device.

I get most of the graphs so far (either some values are being graphed or the values are 0.0) except for Components->FileSystem->(selected file system) graphs Blocks and Files. The values are "nan".

Also, filesystem UsedBytes, FreeBytes and %Util are empty. TotalBytes is OK.

PS: before this 2.X zenpack, i have tried Pyton2.6 compatible version

ZenPacks.community.NetApp-1.19-py2.6.egg

but it seems to be unfinished, no datapoints, device classes or graphs were present.

Also i'm getting this error:

We are running this with Zenoss 3.1.0 but also do not see the disk usage correctly. The same error is likewise reported. Installing net-snmp-perl (CentOS/Red Hat package) does not help .

Hi,This zenpack work well on centos 32 bits and deb 32 and 64.

before install cpan install Net::SNMP

Install ZenPacks.community.NetApp-1.13.egg (remove 2.4)

install after ZenPacks.community.NetApp-1.19-py2.6.egg .

fix the file security for libexec/check_netapp for zenoss

and you have the disk usage

Hi, I'm new to zennos and my linux skills need some work too...Apolgies if this is a silly question but how do I "fix the file security for libexec/check_netapp for zenoss"? I've got the netapp file systems displayed but no entires in Used Bytes, Free Bytes and %Util. Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi Guys,

Got this Zenpack to work on 3.2.0 on Ubuntu 10.04 server 32-bit using the following steps:

1. Installed Net::SNMP

2. Opened up ZenPacks.community.Netapp-1.19-py2.6.egg with 7-zip

3. Opened up ZenPacks.community.Netapp-1.13-py2.4.egg with 7-zip

4. Copied the contents of 1.19 archive to the 1.13 archive

5. Save the 1.13 archive. Delete the 1.19 archive, rename the "....1.13-py2.4.egg" archive to "....1.19-py2.6.egg"

6. Create a "Storage" organizer under MIBs.

7. Install the zenpack (through the web UI or CLI)

Up till this point, when I added a filer device, it would not load the NetappFileSystemMap modeller, and hence would not model the filesystem. So I did the following as a workaround.

8. Add the path the to Zenpack modeller plugin to the the global path. On ubuntu, the path variable is located in "/etc/enviroment". The path on my system was "/usr/local/zenoss/zenoss/ZenPacks/ZenPacks.community.NetApp-1.19-py2.6.egg/ZenPacks/community/NetApp/"

With this path added, the modeller now loads NetappFileSystemMap modeller, and models the volumes.

Hope this helps someone.

I am using zenoss 2.5.2 stack on ubuntu 8.04 LTS. I installed the correct version ZenPacks.community.NetApp-1.13-py2.4.egg.zip and I can see Perf graphs. After installing deb package libnet-snmp-perl , I can execute the script check_netapp and see the results. Also the plugin gets the volumes, but no graphs. Any idea?

Thank you. Only caveat is that there are no Data Points in the database. On the view of the Zenpack, In the bottom window there are no database objects included in this zenpack. I did install the ZenPacks.community.NetApp-1.19-py2.6.egg zenpack. Should I have installed the ZenPacks.community.NetApp-1.13-py2.4.egg first? I also saw a reference to combining the files from both into one. I am running 3.2.1. I thank you for any input you may have here.

I found in the Filesystem has a BUG. Therhold incident, can't record Component information. Therefore, I will Filesystem performance acquisition template to SNMP mode. And revised a inodes data shows that way, hope of the useful.

I will be the change to generate the zenpack. Community. NetApp file, and add my name and hope that the developers understanding

The component information issue with the filesystem thresholds is easy to fix. You just have to go in to the FileSystem template and edit the command datasource. There is a field called "Component:". You need to populate this field with: ${here/mount}

After you do that, the thresholds will come in with the proper component. I kept getting blank thresholds even after I changed that until I restarted Zenoss then everything was fine.

A couple of other things that can be changed to improve the FileSystem template:

For utilization, edit the graphpoints and use the following in the RPN field: 1024,*

That will make it so that the utilization displays properly on the graph. I noticed that it's displaying Megabytes when it should be displaying Gigabytes.

For the file count, edit the graphpoints and change the format value from %5.2lf%s to %5.2lf. That will make it show the actual count on the graph instead of 10 million files showing up as 10.2M or whatever.

I was having the same issue. I have yet to resolve it. I tried recompiling the 1.19 egg file from scratch and made sure that all the nescessary files where included. However when I compile it some files are missing. If I tried compiling the 1.13 version it compiles as it should.

The only difference I can see is it being compiled with python2.6 rather than 2.4 so that may be the issue.I have yet to try compiling the 1.19 version using python2.4.

1: Define a new data source :

Name : DfInodeUsage

OID : 1.3.6.1.4.1.789.1.5.4.1.7

2: Define a new threshold and put the values .

3: Define the graphs with data source and enables graphs
