Thanks a lot Jane! It's very useful and Zenoss should add that into standard reports. After some testing, I found some minor changes

(1) In line 103

"org here/getEventClassNames" doesn't work for me.

(2) Run ReportLoader.py to load reports

cp /usr/local/zenoss/zenoss/Products/ZenReports/ReportLoader.py /usr/local/zenoss/zenoss/ZenPacks/ZenPacks.community.AvailabilityReportPerCollection-1.1-py2.4.egg/ZenPacks/community/AvailabilityReportPerCollection

python ReportLoader.py -f

zopectl restart

(3) TypeError: __init__() got an unexpected keyword argument 'systems'

After I ran "zopectl restart", that error was gone.

Thanks for the input, Danny.

1) Your comment about line 103 in the pt file wasn't causing me issues - I just ripped it from the original group report ZenPack - however I have changed to your suggestion and it still seems to work fine - please let me know if it works for you.

2) I have included ReportLoader in the base directory of the ZenPack to make things easier.

3) I noticed there was an issue with the output of systems for a device - that is now fixed.

I will post the 1.2 version here with these updates - thanks for your input.

Hmmm. I have just upgraded a 2.5.2 to 3.0.1 and this ZenPack continued to work fine. Was yours an upgrade or a new install of 3.0.1??

Are you sure that the ZenPack did install OK?? You need to navigate down Reports -> Performance Reports -> Availability -> Availability Report per collection.

Hi and thanks for answering!

I have a fresh 3.0.1 install. When I load the ZenPack, I don't get an error and nothing happens. It does not show as an installed ZenPack. I'm tailing the logs and I don't see anything related to loading a ZenPack except the UI HTTP requests.

I tried loading another ZenPack that is said to work with 3.0.1 and it installed without problem.

Yes, I should have mentionned it. I restarted after installing the pack. Normally, when I load a ZenPack, it shows up in the UI as "broken or just installed". With this one, after I install it (via the UI), it does not show. I still restarted just in case but still did not show.

Ok, I finally found the solution... remove the -py2.4 in the file name... I was then able to install it.

But the report shows 100% available for all devices where the earlier version (original from Zenoss) showed 96%

I have [posted a 1.2.1 version with a very slight change. It gives me lots of non-100% values but I am becoming suspicious both of these values and the values out of the standard Availability report (remember that the 2 still clash - run zopectl restart if the standard Availability report gives you an error).

I would appreciate any further input that you may have.

I installed the 1.2.1 version and restarted but unfortunately, it still gives me 100% everywhere. I would lke to be able to give you more details but that's all I see.

As a note, the standard Availability report gives me an error, even after zopectl restart. Maybe it's related.

Still no joy for me. With 1.2.2 when I run the report for a specific System, it brings me to a device within the frame instead of the report.

Very wierd - it did same for me too. I have tweaked a few things (none that I think should affect this behaviour) but specific system queries do now work for me. I will post 1.2.3 if you are prepared to keep testing it?

I am also finding that if you take the default startDate, endDate then you don't see "todays" events unless you set the end date to "tomorrow". This is different from the standard Availability report.

The good news is that I am no longer seeing a clash between the standard report and this ZenPack - you can run both without bouncing zopectl 9... unless you are going to tell me different???)

Hmmm. Weird. I get device names, provided that I have the device name available in the Infrastructure list??? Just retested on my system and it works as in the screenshot above.

When i run it with the Per collection it shows the IP and not the names on the infrastructure list

Hi - thanks for your comments. I think the problem was that I was using the device id field in the report and you have probably setup user-friendly names in the device title?? I have modified the code to use title and this seems to work for me. Please will you test it? I am having an issue. I have a few groups setup and the report only populates a small number of the systems that are a member of that group. Even if I switch everything over to use the root groups it only populates a few systems. The formatting also looks weird and the bottom buttons on the report do not seem to work.

What browser are you using? I test with Firefox. Anyone else got other browsers that they can confirm work with Zenoss 3.2.1??

Do you have the latest version - 1.2.8 (see link above - Get the latest egg file from github (no need to unzip): ). I did some mods to cater for devices that didn't have host names.

I have verified I am running 1.2.8. I have tried IE and Firefox and both have the same result. I have 94 total devices currently and it shows a max of 14 on the availability report. If I filter by a group that has 50 items it only shows 2 of them.

First screen - shows infrastructure view with "Uptime - Corp" group selected. not there are 94 total devices, 10 in that group.

Second screen - availability report with just "Uptime - Corp" group selected. Group has 10 systems, report only shows 3

Third screen - removed group from filter so it shows all devices. 94 total devices but it only shows 14. Using show all or the arrows does not do anything.

Couple of things. In both reports, you appear to have an entry with a blank filename?? Is this an artefact of your screenshot? If it has managed to find a blank device name, this could be causing all sorts of havoc.

Can you try the standard Availability Report and see if that reports everything or whether it is also missing lots of devices (do make sure you use the Show All button as 94 devices will exceed the page size of 40).

The standard availability report looks just fine and reports all devices. I looked through the group and I do not see any device without a device name. I wonder if something got corrupted? I might try to go through the systems in the group 1 by 1 to verify all the data is correct unless you have any other suggestions?

In your screenshots 2 and 3 above, there appears to be an entry with a null device name, in /Corporate Windows group and device class /CIM/WMI - that's what I am worries about. Any ideas?

I took a VM snapshot and started deleting everything in the groups completely from zenoss monitoring and the blank one just jumps around to different categories. I think I have corruption or something since last time I did apt-get update and apt-get upgrade. Is there a way to check the database for an entry without a device name?

I just installed a fresh copy of zenoss and added 3 systems to /ping and it still shows 1 line with no device name. This tells me the problem seems to be with this zenpack and not our database. Is anyone else running this on 3.2 and having it work correctly?

Do you really mean 3.2 or do you have 3.2.1?? I have it working on 3.2.1. 3.2.0 had lots of problems so I would strongly recommend upgrading to that if you are not already at it.

When I use export all, it gives me information on all my devices. When I just want it on a certain group/device class.

Jane -

I was able to reproduce this error where a device would show up with a blank name and then only a few devices would be displayed. I believe the problem may be caused if a device doesn't actually have the title property set and only has an id set.

I modified the AvailabilityCollection.py in the plugins directory and replaced all occurences of d.title with d.titleOrId() (there were 8 occurences I believe) and then restarted zope. This seems to have done the trick. I can e-mail you the working copy if you want.

It does look like whatever deviceList this report is using gets carried over to the default Availability report until the cache times out. Not sure how to fix that without modifying the default Availability report code.

Hi Jane,

Some of the devices are not showing when checking their availability (using /Status/Ping). There are 12 devices in the group but only 10 show. I'm not sure how I can verify that there are actually ping events being saved for the devices, when changing the report to just one of the devices that doesn't show I get a blank report. I can't see any configuration differences in zenoss between the ones that do show and the ones that don't.

Any ideas what I could check?

I have finally got around to updating this ZenPack to use dhopp's excellent suggestion of using titleOrId rather than title. Hopefully this fixes the issue where any devices that didn't have the title field filled in got missed from the report. Works for me but i am sure folks will report back if they see issues

I still do not know how to fix the "export all" button. I have observed similar problems with other ZenPacks where the report on the screen is what you want but the export all produces something different - and sometimes ENTIRELY different. I suspect there is some cacheing going on in that code. Anyone who can help resolve this would be much appreciated.
