- Agreement should be optional for Zenpacks - Ryan Matte
- I just think that the community agreement should be entirely optional... if I want to release a ZenPack solely under the GPL license but still have it available on the community site I should be allowed to do so.
- Contributions are defined too widely and include everything that the author ever writes or has written in a public space - Jane Curry
- Past, Present and Future Contributions - Jane Curry
- "all of your past, present and future contributions of object code, source code and documentation (including all design documentation, user manuals and technical manuals) to Zenoss, however submitted to the Zenoss, and whether developed or to be developed by you or on your behalf"
- Above text is too wide and there is no escape mechanism
- Harmony agreement contains text that allows someone to note something "Not a contribution"
- Guarentee of no one elses work used - Jane Curry
- Requiring the contributor to state that the work is solely their own is unrealistic
- Often, ZenPacks are built on top of another's open source work, and the author has little knowledge of the alternate persons work.
- Simplicity of agreement - Jane Curry
- The existing length and legalese of the document makes it unlikely that someone will read and understand the entire thing.
- Feels like a contract where I might be held liable - Dpetzel
- My first reaction was "I don't want to enter into a signed contract to give something away for free" which is how the document read
- This is the line that made me feel like I was entering a contract:
"From time to time at Zenosss request, You will promptly and without further compensation execute any and all patent, copyright or other intellectual property applications, assignments or any other instruments or other documents that Zenoss deems necessary or appropriate to apply for or obtain registration or other protection for Your Contributions, or to effectuate the full assignment of Your rights in Your Contributions to Zenoss in any country, including (without limitation) Letters of Patent (including renewals, extensions, continuations, divisions, or continuations in part), copyright and trademark registration promptly and without further compensation.
- Harmony Agreements - SEJeff
- Why not have your legal team look at the Harmony aggreement? http://harmonyagreements.org
- Total transfer of rights to an Inc. is immoral and not open source-like - Jane Curry
- The agreement would hold no value in English law, as written - Jane Curry
