I tried changing /usr/local/zenoss/etc/zope.conf to say address 80 (logged in as root) but it goes to the Apache2 'It works!' page instead of starting the webUI port on port 80 instead of 8080.
Is there something else I should do to??
I've already disabled apache2 from starting but left it installed since apparently it is difficult to completely remove it from Ubuntu LTS 8.04.3, lots of dependencies etc.
Thank you, Tom
You might use your apache for SSL. This way you won't need to append 8080 to your hostname and increase security simultaneously. Please see the following link for more information.
Zenoss is strictly internal for us -- it will eventually have an IP that cannot access the Internet.
Therefore does this document enable us to simply re-enable apache and have its port 80 do the work for us??
It probably doesn't make any difference if I have apache2 on or off...
Thank you, Tom
Basically yes if you get the redirection working. We also use Zenoss
entirely internally, but prefer not passing credentials etc over clear
text on our network when it can be avoided.

Take a look at the $ZENHOME/etc/zope.conf, there's an entry there for
address 8080
change that to 80 and restart.
