Modeling and Monitoring WITHOUT SNMP

Does anyone have any examples or documentation for creating ZenPacks that do not use SNMP? I've found very little, if any, examples which do not make use of SNMP. I've created a DS4800 device class, and can model the device. However, now I'm having problems adding Logical Drives as children of the original device. Anything out there I can take a look at that might help? Thanks!
Take a look at the "How to Create an SSH ZenPack" document (docs/DOC-2381). It covers modeling via SSH.

You have to be joking, or do you think that document is worth a D$#@! ?
I agree that that document doesn't provide much insight. Are there any existing ZenPacks that make use of command modeling and monitoring that would be a better example? I don't think I'd be able to create anything from scratch using that slight documentation.
The OpenSolaris and Linux Monitor (and the many extensions on it) were all written following the doc. You can go and check out their source (linked from the pages) and see how they implemented the custom SSH modeling and monitoring.
either you are soooooooooo much smarter than me, or you havent tried it.
Matt make a new ssh modeler is not so easy... maybe i hope in future we will have easyer ssh modeler because this let you monitor device (specially remote device) that with other method you cannot.
I've had some success getting started with the page below. I'll hopefully be releasing my code once I get a bit further down the road.

Howdy. I've been using Zenoss core 2.5 for a while, with all monitoring done via SNMP. With all the risks associated with SNMP it was decided to switch to SSH instead of SNMP. This page had me up and running in about 10 minutes using SSH monitoring.

While the use of zenplugins does work, we introduced proper remote SSH modeling and monitoring with the 2.4 release, which is what most SSH ZenPacks use. Further development of zenplugins by Zenoss has been discontinued.

Dude, the question is how to create a new ssh modeling setup, I can use the one zenoss has already created. But if you have some weird OS that there is not a snmp package, but you can ssh to, it would be a beautiful thing to be able to use ssh to monitor it. If zenoss had a complete example, from start to finish it would probably be pretty easy. But they dont.
you're right. when ssh modeling work it's ok, but sometimes i've device built on busybox or similar and maybe i can grab some infos and not other, so the difficult i how to diagnose the issue and build a custom ssh modeler.
Did you look at the site I listed in my post?

I used this page to configure a new ssh modeling setup, the article is very straight-forward and easy to follow.
Hi,
i read your link but my issue is that sometimes i've to monitor some linux like device where i cannot install zenoss-plugin package or where i cannot install python
