The first full Zenoss 3.0 (2.5.70) alpha release (codenamed 'Stone Crab') is now available for download and installation. Zenoss 3.0 includes a large number of bug fixes, runs on Python 2.6 and Zope 2.12 and has a completely redesigned user interface. The new user interface features an updated framework, new navigation layout and many redesigned pages. This will also be important for ZenPack authors, as this is the first time that they can test their ZenPack's compatibility with the latest UI changes and see how things work with the new user interface.
This Thursday April 22nd, from 10am EDT until 5pm EDT; the Zenoss QA team will be available for collecting feedback, answering any questions, and testing any issues that may arise with your 3.0 testing. The 3.0 alpha can be reached from our alpha server, http://alpha.zenoss.com/files/2.5.70-alpha/. Installers are available for all platforms, a VMware appliance will be available soon. For a quick glance at the outstanding Stone Crab tickets, you can also view the Trac report #3 (developer queue) - http://dev.zenoss.org/trac/report
For those of you that wish to join, we will be running this session on
Server: irc.freenode.net (port 6667)
Channel: #zenoss-testing
We'll record a transcript of the day's conversations and links will be available from the Testing and IRC pages.
Current known issues:
1) http://dev.zenoss.com/trac/ticket/6303 - Submit button on Step2: Specify or Discover Devices to Monitor is broken
workaround: Just click to skip to dashboard from the wizard, and then add your devices through the new UI
Great!
Looking forward
The new 3.0 Alpha Downloads is now available.
I noticed the file the source install link points to does not exist. Are the source installs going to be avaliable soon?
Hmm... looks like we didn't tar it up after all. No matter, it's much better to build straight from Subversion, so you'll get the latest bits.
$ svn co http://dev.zenoss.org/svn/trunk/inst alpha
and then
cd alpha
./install.sh
