Have a device that I removed from the network physically. Then added a new device which has a different sys name. Went to Zenoss Core and tried to delete the device (old) from the device list. I get the loading message and it just sets there. Tried deleting from locations etc but get no such device. However the old device is still listed in the device list. I can't add the new device with that there.

Any ideas?

tlkhorses,

If you can't delete the device from the Device List page, you should be able to delete the directory in $ZENHOME/perf/Devices/ that corresponds to the name of the device. For example, if the device you want to delete was named Server1, you would delete the $ZENHOME/perf/Devices/Server1 directory.

NOTE - by doing that you lose all perf data for that device, so back it up somewhere if you think you may want it later.

removing the directory didn't work

I moved the directory to another location then signed into Zenoss and it still showed the device there. Looking in that zenoss directory the directory for that equipment was back in there.

I did the above and that didn't work. Tried delete from various places such as class or location. Still no go. Is there a way to manually delete this device?

Hi there

did you manage to resolve this issue? I'm having the same problem and it's driving me nuts. I'm ready to dump the whole thing and reinstall if I can't resolve it soon. I'm getting an error about a lock timeout in the data which can be seen in the event.log file and coincides with trying to delete the device through the GUI

There are a couple of little utilities posted by Cluther some time back that I have found useful for clearing up inconsistencies. Try his members page at http://www.zenoss.com/Members/cluther/ . The ones I always try are Fix a Broken layer3_catalog and Fix a broken deviceSearch or componentSearch catalog .

That worked

Jane,

Thanks a lot. That worked. Ran the two scripts per instructions then went to Zenoss and was able to delete the two that wouldn't go away before.
