Please HELP Zenoss Install will not start!!!

My install not working after upgrading from 2.5.1 to 3.2. How to I roll it back/???
i had over 3000 devices and need them back!

I assume from your message you did not make a backup before?
Thats not a good idea on any app not just zenoss.

Restore backups as other folk have said. The Release Notes for 3.2 document what upgrades are possible between versions. If you were at 2.5.1 then it look like you need to go 2.5.1 -> 3.0.3 -> 3.1 -> 3.2.

Couldn't get it to work...didn't know there was backup.
doesn't matter now though i got fired. Knew zenoss was a mistake shoud have stayed with Zabbix but i convinced zenoss was better and it all fell apart.

The mistake was you, not Zenoss. One should always backup before upgrading. And if the production instance is so important, make a copy and upgrade that and swap it in place. Zabbix is a totally disimilar product, as is Nagios. If you dont have the common sense as a system admin to create a backup and stage upgrades, Zenoss and all other complex monitoring platforms should be avoided. Go logon your Windows box and download a demo of Orion.

Please sticky this thread. Back up your installations!!!
It should be safe to upgrade. You don't see these problems with Windows or OS X.

These problems are just as common in Windows and OSX applications. Backup and staging applies to all platforms.
