I have started a thread on the ZenPacks forum at thread/16898 to create an example ZenPack that demonsrartes lots of way of adding new menus to Zenoss.

Please follow the link if you are interested - especially if you can help contribute to the project.  Note that it is very much a work-in-progress at the moment.
