Zenpack installation via Webinterface works?

Hi Guys,
I have recently installed Zenoss 3.2.1 on Ubuntu via the Zenoss apt source and I have not been able to upload and ZenPacks via the web interface, is this feature working correctly? I get no error and evene after restarting the entire server I do not see the ZenPack installed.
How can I manually remove a ZenPack, is it as simple as deleting the files from the server?
Gerry
Umm, http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html
Did you unzip if zipped? What errors? Don't just delete files from the server . . .

I did unzip them and I am not seeing any errors just nothing shows up in the window even after I restarted Zope as instructed.
I have since attempted to install them the old fashioned way from command line and there are now errors in the web interface as shown below.
ZenPacks.AndreaConsadori.Pfsense | This pack was just installed, or is missing or broken. Please restart Zope.
broken | This pack was just installed, or is missing or broken. Please restart Zope.
I have restarted Zope and the entire Zenoss installation now as well but the errors remain.
We need a lot more info. Which version of the zenpack? did the CLI install give any output? You may want to wipe it out, reinstall clean, and then make sure you're using the correct zenpack version... Fixing broken zenpacks isn't fun or easy.

That's what I was afraid of. seeing as it is a brnad new install I think I may be better off just uninstalling, wiping the direcotries etc and starting again. Can you confirm that the web interface for installing the ZenPacks works though? I installed the latest version of Zenoss available in their debian repository which installed the below:
Zenoss | Zenoss 3.2.1 |
OS | Linux (i686) 2.6.32 (Linux zenoss 2.6.32-21-generic-pae #32-Ubuntu SMP Fri Apr 16 09:39:35 UTC 2010 i686) |
Zope | Zope 2.12.1 |
Python | Python 2.6.2 |
Database | MySQL 5.0.45 (Ver 5.0.45) |
RRD | RRDtool 1.3.9 |
Twisted | Twisted 8.1.0 |
NetSnmp | NetSnmp 5.4.1 |
PyNetSnmp | PyNetSnmp 0.29.13 |
WMI | Wmi 1.3.13 |
Well, I don't use Ubuntu, I usually recommend CENTOS for Zenoss. That said, I've used the web interface and the CLI and both seem to work for me...

Ok thanks James,
I will try again and ensure that the Plugins are the correct versions althougth I though I did that, maybe I didn't.
Thanks again for your input.
same exact problem on virtual appliance 3.2.1.
installaing the zenpack via web gui it goes through the motions like somethign is happening but then on the server no dir/files are copied to the server and a reboot shows nothing.
what log file on the server can I tail out and capture the web interface zenpack install and I will cut and paste it here.
The attempted zenpack was
I downloaded the file to my local c drive, extracted it.
and clicked on the egg file, the file was not a .egg file but a .egg-info extension.
hopefully clicking on the below image will enlarge it..thanks.
I just downloaded the 2.6 file your link and it installed with no issues. This is the link I used: servlet/JiveServlet/download/3386-26-3224/ZenPacks.Nova.Windows.SNMPPerfMonitor-1.6-py2.6.egg.zip
Once downloaded unzip and was indeed left with a .egg file. So if you didnt get a .egg double check what file you actually downloaded.
From there it install as normal (As outlined in the Admin Guide).
Doing a zenpack list while logged in as the zenoss user also shows it as installed.
[zenoss@localhost ~]$ zenpack --list | grep Nova
ZenPacks.Nova.Windows.SNMPPerfMonitor (/opt/zenoss/ZenPacks/ZenPacks.Nova.Windows.SNMPPerfMonitor-1.6-py2.6.egg)
As far as log files, you probably want to check $ZENHOME/logs/event.log or $ZENHOME/logs/zenhub.log
ok the zip file I got from your link worked.
I downloaded it , it was an egg, I installed it via web interface, see the files in the zenpack dir via cmd line, rebooted and everything came up fine.
Weird..but again I thank you. I wonder if the redirection to a new download site might be the issue.
My zip file was called somethign differeent the extension had some hex numbers in the end of it.
I am having a little difficulty follwing this step in the zenpack install.
The below steps says
Navigate to /Events/Perf/Memory and select More -> Transform from the menu. Insert the following transform and save:
I can't find the above in the web gui...and am scratching my head.
Click on Events
Click Event Classes
Click Perf
Click Memory
Click the Gear menu in the lower left
Click transform
Paste the code from your screen shot
I found it!!!
