Little help getting started?

Hello everyone,
Recently I installed Proxmox and Zenoss core was an appliance NMS that I could use with Proxmox. I was already looking for such a thing, but this is an easy install. Now I'm trying to monitor my internal netwerk and some computers from friends outside my network. I know that Zenoss can monitor Windows systems and can trap snmp so that I dont have to open ports at the remote client side, but only to the server side. This is important because some of my friends have more than one computer and if the server would try to access them it would only lead to one of the computers where the port is forwarded to.
I'm experimenting with Linux for more then a year, but I'm still a rookie so I hoped that someone could tell me where to look first before I mess up my Zenoss installation. So in short I'm trying to monitor Windows and the server need to trap the SNMP from those Windows clients. I did use google to find some tutorials about configuring Zenoos for Windows and trapping SNMP, but didn't get far with it.
I hope someone can help.

This question is likely to vague to get responses other than links to the admin guides. Its VERY broad. The admin guide covers most of these topics. If your having issues doing a specific task, post what your stuck on, and or any errors. You should also try to include what version and linux distro your running on.
Also you should be sure to review the FAQ: docs/DOC-2445
I thought so. I'll dive into it and hopefully don't make a mess of it. Thank you for the reply.
Not to contridict dpetzel, but the new URL for the updated FAQ is here (with a shortcut to how to get better help on the forums via asking smart questions)
I don't know anything about proxmox, but Zenoss can be picky, and I doubt most users are using proxmox to run it (Unless it's a VM host, in which case if you can, run on CENTOS (IMO)) so you might not get a lot of help with things related to the OS.
Finally, there are resources available via the community or zenoss via the paid Enterprise product or Community Consultants and perhaps training...
The ZCA can help.

Thank you for your reply jmp242.
I already looked at the link and I know that my question is a bit open. What I really should have asked was documentation about configuring Zenoss with SNMP trap and how I need to configure my Windows client. The Zenoss was automatically installed so installation isn't a problem but configuration is. I'm using Zenoss Core to figure out how it works and eventually will go to Enterprise if everyting works. Is it smart to make a new thread?
Well, there really isn't a configuration for recieving SNMP Traps - you just need the device in Zenoss somehow - probably a ping only device if you're only using traps... Turn off any other SNMP Trapsinks on the zenoss server so zentrap can grab the traps, and it pretty much goes then. You set the trapsink on the monitored devices to be the zenoss server.
Then you're into the admin guide and event mappings and maybe transforms to make the trap generated events in Zenoss be what you want.

This is indeed what I'm looking for and how you can send traps from a Windows machine to the Zenoss server. I'll search on google if there is a step by step guide for such a thing because my knowledge about SNMP and traps is just not enough to configure this out of my head.
