Can Zenoss core forward SNMP traps?

Hello all,
first to say is that I'm new on this monitoring world and so, on this Zenoss application. Second, I appreciate in advance any help someone will provide.
My Zenoss is a core version with:
Zenoss | Zenoss 3.2.1 |
OS | Linux (i686) 2.6.18) |
Zope | Zope 2.12.1 |
Python | Python 2.6.2 |
Database | MySQL 5.0.77 (Ver 5.0.77) |
RRD | RRDtool 1.3.9 |
Twisted | Twisted 8.1.0 |
NetSnmp | NetSnmp 5.3.2 |
PyNetSnmp | PyNetSnmp 0.29.13 |
WMI | Wmi 1.3.13 |
We're currently monitoring some dozens of devices of all kinds and some websites.
One of our major clients has asked if our Zenoss can send them SNMP traps somehow to "forward" the information that it is collecting from remote devices; in other words, we monitor web sites (Response size, response time, etc...) and they want us to forward that information to their monitoring systems.
Is this possible? Is this easy? Is there any simple workaround?
Thanks a lot for your help,
Rubén
Searching the forums would get you some answers to this question. IIRC, the trap forwarding is a feature of the paid enterprise version. I believe you could write your own event commands to re-generate snmp traps, but there are scalibility issues. Previous threads have details.

I'm having trouble finding documentation on upgrading from Zenoss Core
3.2.0 to 4.x
Does someone have a link to a good set of docs on the subject?
You should start your own thread. There are no docs as v4 isn't released yet.

A fresh thread would have been more appropriate as James points out.
Have a look at my Zenoss Event Management paper docs/DOC-3538 . Chapter 10 describes how to have an event command generate SNMP TRAPs. As jmp242 says, this will not scale to a vast number of devices or forwarded traps, but it's worth a start. Rumour has it that Core 4 will scale better in this area, when it arrives. Last suggested date that I heard was "end of May".
Cheers,
Jane
