Sending SMS Alert Messages

Is there an existing project or extension that allows zenoss to connect to a cellular modem and send out SMS alert messages when things have failed?

This looks like just what I need and I'll get researching. Our alerting device needs to function over a cellular modem so I'm not sure if that will work but it is worth trying. Do you know if I can make these modifications to the zenoss virtual machine?

If you've got genuine infrastructure around this (a SMSC or a Large Account with a telco), you could/should use kannel (http://kannel.org) to create/send your SMPP messages. It's fairly trivial to connect to a kannel/bearerbox using http.

Whatsmore, you can monitor your SMS queues with ZenPacks.oie.KannelMonitor ...
