Zenoss Event Management workshop

We shall be offering the 3-day Zenoss Event Management Workshop on May 29th - 31st and June 11th - 13th, 2013.

This class has been recently updated to explore the new architecture with Zenoss 4, though much of it is still applicable to those running earlier versions of Zenoss.  It is also very largely compatible for those running the chargeable Zenoss Service Dynamics as well as those with Zenoss Core.

Topics covered include:

  • Zenoss event architecture
  • Events generated by Zenoss
  • Syslog events
  • Managing Windows event log
  • Zenoss event mapping
  • Event transforms
  • Testing and debugging
  • Zenoss and SNMP
  • Email alerting and automation with Notifications and Triggers
  • Accessing events with the JSON API

The workshop aims for 90% hands-on time.  If you want a class that is largely someone talking so you can do your "day job" alongside - don't come on this class!  It is designed to make students do things and delegates will be encouraged to explore areas of interest more deeply - and to skip any areas that are irrelevant to them.  I will be available throughout the workshop to give some brief overviews, to provide assistance and to conduct question-and-answer sessions.

The class will be delivered remotely using machines in the Amazon cloud.  You will also need Skype and VNC / ssh - please see the web page for more details - http://www.skills-1st.co.uk/products/courses/zenoss-events.html .  The cost is £1200 (UK pounds) which includes hardcopy of both the paper that the class is based on, and the workshop instructions and notes.  In order to get hardcopy to delegates, we really need 2 weeks notice please; less than that and we will do the best we can.  Softcopy of the paper (not the workshop) is freely available at http://www.skills-1st.co.uk/papers/jane/zenoss4-events/ .

We will set the course hours to suit the timezones of those who register: it is likely that one course will have times suitable for the Americas, and the other will have times suitable for Europe. If there are sufficient delegates from Asia / Pacific then we shall  try and set times to accommodate them.  Please let us know which dates work for you, and what timezone you are in.  Registrations to office@skills-1st.co.uk .  Happy to receive comments and questions also.

Kind regards,

Jane
