Can't access events after 2.5.2 upgrade

Hello,

Since I upgraded to version 2.5.2, when i click on the event console, nothing appear. Same when i try to access directly from a device.

Is there a way to fix this?

Thanks,

Fred

I had same problem. I tried to reload services and it didn't help, but after rebooting the whole server I was finally able to access events again.

But now I have several other problems:

    - WMI data source Zenpack seems to be broken: zenperfwmi daemon can not even be started.

    - Installing Zenpacks won't work from Web UI, it just gives error... /bin/sh: zenpack: not found

I am using Ubuntu 9.10 x64 and upgraded from zenoss 2.5.1 to 2.5.2 this morning.

Hello, I had a similar problem after upgrading  and connecting with Firefox. I had to force a refresh in the event window (F5) and all avents appeared.

Bomek -  I saw a similar issue with my installation and I was able to get the error to go away by removing all Zenpacks related to WMI.  I still have an issue where my ZenperfWMI heartbeat is failing though.

well, i use WMI heavily, i would like to keep them in place..

The problem only seem to occurs at initial startup using the zenoss-stack init.d script. When i start those daemon manually, it works.

Almost makes me wonder if it is a path problem if it only fails on boot.  I dont use WMI at all, so know nothing about it.  Is there a log debug mode that you might be able to activate?

Are you using selinux by chance?

Also, did you maybe change from the default directory structure?

This is the common settings for the stack install in the ctlscript.  It looks like this is what is trying to be used for your installation as well.  Is that where Zenoss really is?

    INSTALLDIR=/usr/local/zenoss
    if [ -r "$INSTALLDIR/scripts/setenv.sh" ]; then
    . "$INSTALLDIR/scripts/setenv.sh"
    fi
Also, where exactly IS zenperfwmi.py kept at?  I wonder if the path could be relative rather than absolute.

Re: Can't access events after 2.5.2 upgrade

I managed to fix my zenperfwmi not-starting issue:

The service start script was looking for zenperfwmi.py in $ZENHOME for some reason.  I created a symbolic link to the file in $ZENHOME and everything started up fine after that.

The file location for zenperfwmi.py?  Glad you asked!  I can't remember the details, but it is somewhere in /home/zenoss/ZenPacks/(WMIDataSource ZenPack)/ - you can do a find for it - like this:   find / -type f -name zenperfwmi.py

To create the symlink: ln -s (path-to-zenperfwmi.py) /home/zenoss

Restart the zenoss service, and everything should come up fine!

Didn't work for me, tried deleting/re-installing zenpack from command line, re-installing zenoss-stack, etc...
Still keep getting the error, is there anyway to downgrade back to 2.5.1 ?

Did you keep a recent backup of your database from 2.5.1?

What exactly is currently failing on your installation right now?  Is it only events, or are daemons failing to start as well?

Zenperfwmi and Zenodbc refuse to start, can't install zenpacks because i get /bin/sh "whichever zen command" could not be found etc...
Zenbackups refuse to work at all...

Event logging didn't work after a service restart, but mysteriously started working after

    a reboot.

It really sounds like stuff is not running as zenoss user, or the zenoss user had $ZENHOME damaged.

Re: Can't access events after 2.5.2 upgrade

Is there a way to figure out what the 2.5.2 update modifies in the home directory?
Everything was working correctly, collecting/graphing data before the update as I mentioned

in the other thread earlier... Its a straight debian stack upgrade from the zenoss repo, so it

should be configured exactly as the stack install configures it...
