Site window Portlet (non) autorefreshing

I am either rather stupid, or missing something (possibly both)
On my dashboard I have made a couple of Site Window portlets, based upon the 'Fun with the site window portlets' article at docs/DOC-5334
I have noticed, however, that these pretty graphs tend to do .. well, not much really, until I press refresh or on other ways reload the entire page.
As to why this puzzles me ? well, there is the rather obvious field Refresh Rate in the portlet settings..
Am I just being silly.. and have to go out looking for the monkeyrefresh program again ? or have I just missed a bit somewhere ?
Its mentioned ith the "Fun with site window portlet...." documentation that you have to remove some text at the end of the url that you copy from the graph to make them not static.
6. Paste in the URL, trim the end off after "&drange=129600&width=500&start=end-129600s&end=now-0s" so the labels aren't static
I did..
I selected a graph, right clicked, copied image url, put into a text editor, trimmed away everything after end=now-0s
have you tried to lower the 'refresh rate' setting? also check if the link "stop refreshing" in the top right corner on the dashboard actually doesnt say "start refreshing" could be something very simple, just my 2 cents
I appreciate the effort
I have tried varying the refreshrate from about 40 seconds and up to 90 ..
And yep, the clickable in the corner says stop refreshing
Other windows on the page updates, like the event window, and the googlemaps window..
It's just my graphs what doesn't
Hmm.. there is this ticket: http://dev.zenoss.org/trac/ticket/6110 that was closed as "Not Reproducible". Are you using 2.5.2? I believe I've seen performance graphs get updated, it's just very slow since they typically write out data points every 5 minutes.
I am .. *ahem* using 2.5.1.
I see in your linked note, at the bottom, that it says that refresh funcitonality should work in 2.5.2..
I read that as implying less functioning in 2.5.1 then ?
I don't see any tickets against 2.5.2 that jump out, just the comment in the ticket sounded like it may have been fixed. Wish I had something better to go on.
Me too..it's kind of annoying really. .I mean, the event view, no problem, the google map view, no problem..
It's just the site windows with the pretty graphs, which are slightly less than ideally useful if they won't update automagically..
Right.. Well I've upgraded to Zenoss 2.5.2, but this does not seem to have fixed the problem
I am also running into the same problem. I am running 2.5.2 on CentOS and using Firefox to access the interface. I have disabled caching locally, and everything besides the site window refreshes perfectly.
The portlet updates fine when I hit refresh, anytime I access the Dashboard, or if the page I access has a refresh built into it, but never updates on its own.
I haven't been able to test this on another browser yet, but it seems that the only browser mentioned is Firefox. I wonder if the problem is specific to Firefox? Unless someone beats me to it I'll post up when I test with a different browser.
I have only tested it on firefox myself
Checking from IE 7 on a Windows Vista machine still produces the same non-refreshing problem.
I would think the files are the same between installation types, but in case it helps solve, or even just reproduce, the problem I installed using the CentOS RPMs.
Same here, CentOS RPM
My manager told me to tell you that it is still not working
Just in case anyone had had an epiphany or something......
The suggestion to use a puple monkey refresher or wossname.. is met with growly noises..
But that might just be him being hungry..
